AVG Antivirus free 2014 Review and Download link, for windows 7, 8 and 8.1

We did a review of our favorite free antivirus software (Avast Antivirus Free 2014), so we figured we would load up a classic and try it out once again. When it comes to AVG Antivirus, the free versions have disappointed us for the last few year, and it seems things have gotten worse.

Seems the free version has AVG Antivirus free 2014 has fewer features than ever, now all it does is scan your whole computer for virus and a rootkit scanner.  (about the only good side we see to AVG Antivirus free 2014) It will scan your E-Mail, and cover most of your Antivirus needs, but it does seem limited vs Avast. One thing to note about AVG Antivirus free 2014 is the small download size.  (44mb vs Avast antivirus free at 88 mb)

Performance on whole computer scans are on par with Avast but with fewer features.

Lets take a look at a screenshot of AVG Antivirus free 2014, as you can see, the free version is quite “gutted”.

AVG AntiVirus 2014 does have a rootkit removal feature and for this reason we consider it an acceptable antivirus solution.

The Anti-rootkit removal AVG Antivirus FREE 2014 offers is still quite useful, if you get a rootkit. So far Avast 2014 free antivirus has detected them before getting our test computers infected. So consider AVG as an option still, but we still recommend people check out Avast 2014 free. We created a blog and full review of it, the link to the antivirus blog is below. It’s almost twice the file size, but twice the protection.

Keep in mind we find Avast Antivirus to have more feature for free and is faster, and yes it has rootkit removal. Keep in mind to do a proper Rootkit scan of a Hard disk or SSD you do connect to it a non-boot drive or use a second computer to scan the drive on a non-boot HHD or SSD.

Here our link to the free Avast antivirus we recommend for having the most features and speed.
